Americans want Obama and GOP to work together
Washington (CNN) - Two new polls indicate that most Americans want President Barack Obama and congressional Republicans to compromise in order to get things done for the country.
According to a CBS News survey released Thursday, 72 percent of Americans say congressional Republicans should make tradeoffs in order to get things done, with just over one in five saying Republicans should stick to their positions. Thanks to the results of the midterm elections, the GOP will control the House of Representatives and will have a much larger minority in the Senate in the new Congress next year.Democrats questioned in the poll, which was conducted after the election, overwhelmingly say Republicans should compromise. But even six out of ten Republicans and 55 percent of self-described Tea Party activists agree that the GOP should be willing to deal with Democrats in order to get things done.
The survey indicates that nearly eight in ten Americans say that the president should compromise with the GOP, with 16 percent saying they want Obama to stick to his positions. Seven out of ten Democrats and nearly nine out of ten Republicans say the president should compromise with the GOP to get things done.
A Pew poll also released Thursday indicates that 55 percent of the public wants Republican leaders in Congress to work with Obama, with just over six in ten saying they want the president to cooperate with GOP leaders. But Democrats are split, with 43 percent saying Obama should stand up to Republican leaders and 46 percent saying the president should cooperate with congressional Republicans.
According to the poll, Republicans are less interested in compromise, with two-thirds saying GOP leaders should stand up to the president and less than three in ten saying they should compromise with Obama.
A third new poll indicates that most Americans are not optimistic that Obama and Republicans in Congress compromise.
Fifty-eight percent of people questioned in an Associated Press-GfK survey released Wednesday say they are not confident that the president and congressional Republicans can work together to solve the nations problems, with just over four in ten saying they are confident.
The AP-GfK poll was conducted November 3-8, with 1,000 people questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.
The CBS News poll was conducted November 7-10, with 1,137 nationwide adults questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.
The Pew Poll was conducted November 4-7, with 1,255 adults questioned by telephone. The survey's overall sampling error is plus or minus three percentage points.
Vandrae Says: Its about time we figured something out what took this so long to surface.........nothing has ever happened for the greater good when decided by one side.......this isn't just a message to the president its a message to the nation........ republicans, democrats if ur reading this, break down the partiy lines and for once just start doing whats right.

C'mon America..........
One of the big topics in the news right now is the proposed Mosque to be built a few blocks from the 9-11 site. This topic has taken a lot of criticism lately and I think it’s time for Vandrae to weigh in.
The Mosque is being opposed on the grounds that it is insensitive to the events that occurred 9 years ago at ground zero. Many people argue that this is unjustified and flat out ignorant, but if you’re going to fall in the trap America, then please let me catch you before you fall.
Vandrae Says…….
A Mosque is a place where a Muslim can go worship his or her god. What’s wrong with that? I understand that the attackers on 9-11 were of the Islamic background, but they were extremists. There are over a billion Muslims on our planet and for the most part they are peaceful people. Plus, this is just what those terrorists of 9-11 want. They want us to be upset with Muslims they want Americans to be confused and distraught.
C’mon America we are better than that! The people who are proposing to build the Mosque aren’t terrorists in fact they are Americans, Muslim Americans. They are no different than you or I. They have every right under our powerful constitution to build their Mosque wherever they want to.
The war on terrorism is a war against TERRORISTS, not Muslims, and the sooner we can engrave that into our skulls the better off we will be. In the 9-11 attacks there were over 3,000 Americans killed some of them Muslim Americans. Plus, overseas we have Muslim Americans serving in our military, fighting this war on terror. How do we explain to them when they come home after serving their country that they are only allowed to pray where we want them to? Think America! It’s not a them or they thing, it’s an US. Be the change you want to see in the world.
The second we believe that we are in a war with Islam, Al-Qaeda wins……
The News Junkie
Growing up in an environment where there was always stuff going on around me, has always made me want to be in the know. Whether it’s the inclement weather outside, a political slippage of the tongue, or a blockbuster trade to put a team over the top; I have always wanted to know first.
I was the type of kid who everyone asked what the weather was going to be like today. I was also the one who ran outside during the tornado warnings. In school I knew all the controversy surrounding politicians, and the true intent of new legislature. Everyone would ask for my opinion on everything. And I loved giving it.
When I came to northwest, I was unsure of exactly what I wanted to be. Not because I was afraid but because I have so many interests. I remember taking my Gen. Geography course and coming to realize that this subject covers most everything. It had a section of history, sports, weather, criminology, psychology, sociology etc. This is why I selected GIS as my major.
When it comes down to it I think I have a passion for everything. There are certain things in life that my heart skips a beat for. Outside of the red clearance tags at Wal-mart, breaking news is probably the next best thing to me.
